Walt grew up in Biloxi and wears the black and gold of Southern Miss. Walt has always been a family man. He has been married to his wife Courtney for 14 years. His son Turner is 10, and his daughter Parkes is 6. And we can’t forget his Schnauzer, Willie.
Walt has spent nearly 20 years in the world of advertising, public relations and economic development. Many of those years were spent at Godwin, and we are happy to have him back in our ranks, armed with new experiences and fresh ideas. Walt works well within a team and is results-oriented — two traits that will help him excel in his new position as Senior Vice President, Brand Supervisor. Walt has jumped right in, and quickly whipped himself back into “work shape,” as he calls it.
He missed us. But Walt also says that his reason is simple: “GodwinGroup is Mississippi’s flagship agency. It is THE agency. The standard,” he says. *Blush* We’ll take that, too.
Bet You Didn’t Know…
Seeing double? Walt has an identical twin, Jack. Walt looks up to their father, Will Denton, a trial attorney from Brooklyn, Mississippi, who spent his life fighting for the little guy. “Since his passing, for every person that has had a kind word, I’ve had two more that told me stories of run-ins, arguments and fallouts,” Walt says. “I love hearing every bit of it.” Walt likens his father’s life work to John Grisham’s The Rainmaker — Will was Grisham’s primary consultant. It also happens to be Walt’s favorite book.
And on any given Saturday in the fall, you can find Walt tailgating at Chapel Place at Southern Miss and attending Eagle Walk — which is “one of the best traditions in all of college football,” according to him.
