Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Service Selects GodwinGroup as Branding and Marketing Agency

Jackson, Miss. (October 17, 2011) – GodwinGroup, an integrated marketing, advertising, and communications firm, has been chosen to provide branding and marketing services for the Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Service (MCVS), a state agency that promotes community service and volunteerism within Mississippi.

GodwinGroup will be responsible for establishing a new brand identity that highlights the agency’s altruistic goals. MCVS was instrumental in coordinating recovery efforts during the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and, more recently, in communities sustaining damage during April’s deadly tornadoes.

“Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Service does an exceptional job of rallying people together with a common goal of helping others,” said Philip Shirley, chairman and CEO of GodwinGroup. “It gives our agency a great sense of pride to work with an organization so dedicated to improving our local communities.”

MCVS was established in 1994 and is based out of Jackson, Miss. As the state office of volunteerism, MCVS oversees Mississippi’s AmeriCorps programs and supports a network of volunteer centers, which have donated millions of dollars and more than 840,000 hours of service to local communities.

“A critical element of coordinating volunteerism effectively is ‘telling the story’ of the good work being done around our state. To do this effectively, we realized that our Commission needs a strategic communication plan. We are very pleased to have the support of the Godwin team as we move forward,” said Robin Robinson, chair of the MCVS Board of Commissioners.
