CLIENT PROFILE

Organization:         MedjetAssist

Client since:           2006

Organizational mission: MedjetAssist is a domestic and global air medical transport membership program. If a Medjet member becomes hospitalized more than 150 miles from home and meets transport criteria, Medjet will arrange air-medical transport to their home country hospital of choice at no additional cost. All the member pays is their membership fee.

How did MedjetAssist get started?
Medjet started as a traditional air-ambulance company, performing fee-for-service air-medical transports. Following the format of an existing international membership based model, Medjet created MedjetAssist as a way for savvy travelers to become part of a membership program that would provide them with year-long peace of mind anytime they traveled more than 150 miles from home. As a MedjetAssist member, a hospitalized traveler now has access to world-class air-medical transport without the burden of fee-for-service transport costs that can exceed $100,000 for international transports.

What do you find most rewarding in your business?
Member testimonials are priceless. I have experienced firsthand the fear and confusion of a medical emergency far from home. It is a terrible feeling and nothing compares to the relief of a friendly and compassionate voice hundreds or even thousands of miles away walking you through the chaos. So I would say the most rewarding part of the business is hearing the relief in a member’s voice when they realize they are not a policy number but a true member of an organization whose primary purpose is to be there for them.

What are your biggest marketing challenges when promoting MedjetAssist?
Convincing a consumer to choose your product or service over your competition is challenging enough. With a niche service like Medjet you have to start with educating the consumer on what the service is, why they need it, then choosing you and not the competition. That’s a lot of educating and selling involved in limited media space.

I think that is why digital is so important to our marketing efforts. If you are clever enough, then you don’t need a lot of space or copy to intrigue the consumer to click through or look you up later. Once you get them to the page, then you have infinite space to educate and sell. You just have to make sure the organization and delivery of the site’s information is optimized for workflow and conversion.

What do you like to do when not working?
Cooking, gardening and reading on a day-to-day basis, but my true passion is travel. Nothing really compares to it. It is humbling and empowering at the same time.

Read any good books lately / or watched any good movies?
I am reading the Goldfinch by Donna Tartt who is one of my favorite Mississippi writers and it is fantastic. In regards to a movie, I would say nothing really beats the Godfather Trilogy.
